1965 12 09MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 9th, VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING
The Chanhassen Village Council met in regular meeting on December 9th,
1965 at 7:30 PM at the Village Hall. All members present.
Mayor Coulter opened the meeting with the pledge to the flag. The minutes
of the last meeting were read and on a motion made by Councilmen Tessness
and seconded by Councilmen Hanson the minutes be approved as read. Motion
carried, no negative votes.
SEWAGE REPORT:
Mayor Coulter and Engineer Tory Flatebo made an inspection of the Sewer
Plant. Everything seems to be in good condition except a few things left
to be done as per check list submitted. by the engineer.
PETITION BY HANSEN & KLINGELHUTZ:
A petition for improvement was submitted by Hansen & Klingelhutz to con-
struct permanent streets in the following location; High Street and East
portion of South Drive from Lake Str6et to and including all of Lot 79
Block 4 Highland Park Addition. The Council advised Hansen and Klingelhutz
that they could not give them an answer at this meeting, but could probably
at the 1st. meeting in January 1966.
It was also suggested by the Council to instruct the engineer to draw up
an estimate for Road Improvement petitioned by Hansen & Klingelhutz and
also on a separate bid get an estimate on North Drive and all of Lake Street
MAINTENANCE:
The Council instructed Douglas Fritz to stock pile some gravel somewhere
in the Village. Councilmen Tessness is to check with the Engineer on as
to what type and etc.
FIRE HOSE•
On a motion made by Councilmen Roeser and seconded by Councilmen Pauly that
the Village purchase a fire hose. - 300 feet of hose
nozzle, adapter and 2 wrenches
for the total of $206.40. Motion Carried, no negative votes.
The Village Council wishes -that if a loader is needed that the Village rent
from someone other than the man working for the Village. This holds true
for any other type of equipment that must be rented.
ITATER :
Chairmen Tessness gave a report on the finances of the Dater system. He
also stated there are approximately 62 vacant lots in the Village subject to
a unit charge.

Justice of the Peace Elroy Williams 69 Votes

The Candidates being declared as winners are: for Mayor 2 yearn Eugene
Coulter, for Councilmen 3 year term --Richard Holmberg, Justice of the
Peace --for 2 year term --Elroy Williams.
Because of an oversight in the past an ordinance regarding re -zoning was
approved by the Council but never has been published. The clerk is in-
structed to have Ordinance f38A published immediately.
On a motion made by Councilmen Tessness and seconded by Councilmen Roeser
that $7,221.04 be paid now to Fox & Weiler (for Water system) $5,000.00 on
a written completion note from the Engineer, the remaining $2,000.00 when
the state releases the bond to the Village, notion carried no negative
votes.
The Clerk is instructed to reinvest $12,000.00 in water fund on treasury
notes for one month.
Dn a motion made by Councilmen Tessness and seconded by Councilmen Hanson
that the water fund borrow $4,000.00 from the sewer fund for an indefinate
period of time. 1Ioti_on carried, no negative votes.
The Council approves all bills due.
HIREING OF MAINTENANCE KAN:
The Council decided at this meeting to continue with the two men the Village
now have hired until a later date. The following things were decided:
1. Overlapping of jobs - meaning the maintenance man, Police man, and
Sewer man would have to help each other out when the job warrents
it.
2. There will be either a semi-monthly check or a monthly check, de-
pending on the individual.
3. Co-operate in getting rid of the snow.
4. Adjustment on hour traveled at night in the Police Department.
Mayor Coulter and the Police Officier to work out schedule.
On a motion made by Councilmen Hanson and seconded by Councilmen Pauly the
meeting be adjourned.
