Councilman Tessness reported that the committee has decided. to just oil
the streets in the Village this year Because of the water assessment
and the on coming str)rm sewer assessment another assessment would just be
too much of a financial burden on the residents in the Village.
PLAXVEFS
Secretary Grace Lambert read the minutes of the April 12 1966 Planning
Commission meeting.
Acting iayrr. Tessness explained that the article appearing in the ';:innea-
polis Paper stating that Chanhassen Village and Chanhassen Ti.,wnship to
merge under the name of '= innewas'ata was a misprint.
The cleric reported that the League suggested that the Council should di-
vide the Village into different storm sewer areas, and to assess for
Storm Sewers on an area basis. Acting layor Tessness then explained the
Storm ;'awer System. The C!_uncil authorizes the clerk to invest $4,000.00
from-the Sewer fund for six months.
A discussion was had on- Frontier's _.awn and Garden Gunter Building. Up to
the present time no permit has been taken out on the Building. The
Council instructed Councilman .oeser to take care of this matter.
F l
Ar. Earl 71cAlliste - Fi.:e _larshall for the Village of Chanhassen explained
t the Council and those present that he and several other men had looked
at a tanker and pumper truck which Golden Valley has for Sale for $2500.00.
It is a 1953 machine and it is in very good condition, it is fully equip-
ped. It has a gas driven pumper on it. Earl felt it is a good. buy. _Tr
Tark Littfin asked; will expense of this unit provide a better insurance
rate? The pumper truck is the first piece i-f equipment and the tanker
is the secondary piece of equipment. Acting - ,ayor Tessness then explained
that we have several areas in the Village limits where the res-Id.ents do
not have access t the Village Water System, sc thercfr they would have
to be served by a tank truck. tyre are at present under contract with the
.-xcelsior Fire Department, and if .excelsior were to get anr_.ther call while
they were here, they would have to leave or if they were on call when we
called, they would be unable to help us c,ut. Grace Lambert then asked
is it nr_t more a measure of safety we are looking for than to have a re-
ductir:n in insurance rates?
}art stated that this is how Golden Valley got its start, by purchas::ng
the secondary piece of equipment and then the primary piece as the need
arose.
