1967 01 23MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 23rd VILIAGE CGUNCIL MEETING
The Chanhassen Village Council met in regular meeting on January 23rd
1967 at 7 :30 P.M. at the Village Hall,
The following.members present: Mayor Coulter Councilman Erickson, Tess-
ness and Hehl. Councilman Roeser absent.
The meeting was opened with the pledge to the flag.
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE: El roy Williams - Judge was present. The Council
asked him to explain the last report he gave to the Village. Judge
Williams has written a check to the Village for $40.00; but according to
the report the amount fined amounted to $295.00. Judge Williams stated
that he would check his records and call the Clerk on hid findings.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Mayor Couler related to the Council that Enge. Flatebo
has been meeting with the school architect on the grade of the new school,
doing this so that it will coincide with the Municipal Building. Road
easement was also discussed. .The Council instructed Flatebo that he
will be speaking in behalf of the Village and that any minor decisions
that had to be made would meet the Council's approval.
POWER OUTAGE A discussion was held on the recent power outage accuring
January 17th, 1967. This has been the 3rd power failure within a short
period of time accuring in the same place. Ed Hjermstad present was
very unhappy about the maintenance of the power company. He stated that
he suffered a considerable loss from this latest outage. The Council
decided to have a pepresentative from N S P attend the next Council meet=
ing and give an explanation. Clerk instructed to send them a notice of
said effect.
STREET LIGHTS Mayor Coulter read a letter from Hansen & Klingelhutz re-
questing street lightssfor the Highland Park Addition. On a motion made
by Councilman Tessness and seconded by Councilman Erickson to defer this
until the next regular meeting." Motion carried, no negative votes.
STORM SEWER Engineer Flatebo gave a preliminary report on the proposed
storm sewer. On a motion made by Councilman Tessness and seconded by
Councilman Erickson that we hold a public Hearing on the proposed storm
sewer drainage system on February 16, 1967 at 8 :00 P.M. at the,American
Legion Ha11 in Chanhassen. Motion carried, no negative votes. Clerk
to mail out notices.
MAINTENANCE MANOS SALARY On a motion made by Councilman Tessness and
seconded by Councilman Hehl that Mr. Doug Fritz - Maintenance Man be
given a raise of $25.00s:,per month. Raising his salary from $425.00 to
$450.00 per month. Motion carried no negative votes.
ORDINANCE #67 On a motion made by Councilman Erickson and seconded by
Councilman Hehl that upon recommendation from the Planning Commission
that the Council grant the request for rezoning of lands from residential
to Commercial by the Chanhassen Holding Co. Motion carried, no negative
votes. Clerk to publish Ordinance #67. (Public hearing and Planning
Commission meeting held on May 10, 1966.)
A suggestion was made that a public telephone be placed in the golonial
Shopping Center.
On a motion made by Councilman Erickson and seconded by Councilman Tessness
the meeting be adjourned.
