MINUTES OF THE MAY 229 1967 COUNCIL MEETING
The Chanhassen Village Council met in regular meeting on May 22, 1967
at 8:00 P.M. at the Village Hall. Mayor Coulter Councilmen Erickson,
Roeser Hehl and Tessness present from the Village Council and members
from the Board present were R. B. Lyman, Al Klingelhutz, Jim
Cranston and Dick Bastian.
Mayor Coulter opened the meeting with the Pledge to the Flag. The minutes
of , the May 8 1967 Council meeting were read and on a motion made by
Councilman Tessness and seconded by Councilman Erickson the minutes were
approved. as read. Motion carried, no negative votes.
DOG CATCHING Mayor Coulter informed the Council that Francis Klein will
pick up-dogs when called only yntil June 20, 1967.
1-67 -2 STATE AID PROJECT On a motion made by Councilman Tessness, and
seconded by Councilman Roeser that the Council approves the agreement be-
tween the County, Village and Township regarding State Aid Project 1967 -2.
Motion carried no negative votes. (Copy of agreement on file)
1967-2 and-1967-3 Bid Taking - Dates: On a motion made by Councilman Hehl
and seconded by Councilman Roeser that the Council set June 19-i 1967 at
8:00 P.M. for taking of bids for the 1967 -2 and 1967 -3 (Upgrading of St.
Hubert Street and Hiway #101; and ) Construction projects.
Motion carried, no negative votes.
STREET OILING The Engineer presented a street oiling proposal:
three alternatives were presented.:
1. 1 coat oil and pea rock @12¢ per yard. = $
2. Same as above with -one light coat of oil first of MC and RC oil @
15¢ per yard = $
3. Some grading and regrading and adding of base - 2 mat @ $2.00 =
$60 9 000.00
On a motion made by Councilman Roeser and seconded by Councilman Hehl that
the Village set aside $2 for material for oiling the roads in the
Village. Motion carried no negative votes.
A discussion was held as to which alternative should be done this year. It
was tentatively agreed upon that the Village would prime and seal the roads
this year but that this matter be deferred until teas June 1 1967 at which
time a special meeting is being called and also At which time an ordin-
ance for street oiling will be presented.
WESTERN HILLS: Mr, Tom Klingelhutz - rep. Hansen & Klingelhutz presented
the Village a preliminary plat plan for Western Hills. Mr Klingelhutz
stated that an easement from the Forciers should be obtained by the Village
for sewer lines. The Council stated that a meeting between the Mayor
Engineer and Forciers and Mr. Klingelhutz would be arranged within the
week and that Hansen & Klingelhutz should present their plat plan to the
Planning Commission for approval and return to the June 1, Council meeting.
ELECTION JUDGES:
On a motion made by Councilman Tessness and seconded by Councilman Roeser
that the following election judges be appointed to serve at the June 20 196
Village Election: Grace Lambert - Chairman; Viola Buschkowsky, Loretta
Kelm, and Marietta Littfin, the later to serve at the Township Hall, for
day judges; and Betty Manteuff &l, Jo Ann Wulf, and Mrs Slather to be the
Counters. Motion carried, no negative votes.
The Clerk is instructed to take care of making up the ballots (1500). It is
also noted that Kay Klingelhutz - Clerk shall not work at the election be-
cause a relative is involved. - running for an office. Grace Lambert to
be general Chairman.

The Town Board members stated that the Village can use one of their
Voting booths.
CENSUS: The Council was upgraded as to the progrefig of the bill call.
ing for a census of the new ,.Village. A letter was read from Rep. Jopp
stating that the bill has passed the legislature.
RURAL AREAS ORDINANCE: Al Klingelhutz stated he would like to see a
preliminary Ordinance regulating farm areas against Residential areas.
1967.2 PROJECT - REQUESTING A 44 ROAD Letters received from Loretta
Kelm Martin Schlenk Gerald Yanish and George Shorba were read RE:
the State Aid Project 1967 -2 requesting that the road in front of their
properties be only widened to a 44t road. A discussion followed..
Councilman Tessness moves that we table any decision on the State Aid
Project. seconded by Councilman Roeser. Motion carried no neg votes.

J'IUSICIAN ASSN., LETTER: On a motion made by Councilman Erickson and seconded
by Councilman Roeser that we table the „Musician Assn. Letter. Motion
carried no neg. votes.
A letter was read from Tom Carmody architect for Municipal Bldg. RE Build-
ing problems.
DOUG FRITZ: On a motion made by Councilman Erickson and seconded by Council-
man Reeser that Doug Fritz be given a raise commencing May 1. 1967 of
$25.00 making his salary $475.00 per month. I-lotion carried. no neg. votes.
WATER SAFETY PROGRAM: A discussion was held as to what water safety.pro•-
gram will be conducted in the Village this year.
On a motion made by Councilman Tessness and seconded by Councilman Hehl
that Councilman Roeser contact the Red Cross and pursue the water safety
program. Motion carried no neg. votes.
On a motion made by Councilman Roeser and seconded by Councilman Hehl
meeting adjourned.
