1967 07 12MINUTES OF THE JULY 12 1967 COUNCIL MEETING
The Chanhassen Village Council met in special meeting on July 12, 1967 at 8:00 P.M.
to take up business left over from the July 10, 1967 Council meeting. All members
present. On a motion made by Councilman Tessness and seconded by Councilman Hill
that we dispense with all formalities. Motion carried, no negative votes.
PLANNING COMMISSION The new Planning Commission members appointed at the last
meeting met with the Council. Bob Reichert, temporary chairman, asked the Council
if their was a complete up to date map available for them to start work with.
On a motion made by Councilman Hill and seconded by Councilman Klingelhutz that we
direct the Village Engineer to provide us with a detailed a map available showing
boundaries, typography, roads, to the extent that all this information is available.
Motion carried, no negative votes. On a motion made by Councilman Hill and seconded
by Councilman Tessness that the Planning Commission be requested to make recommend-
ation for modification of the Planning and Building Ordinance at the earliest
possible time. Motion carried, no negative votes. On a motion made by Councilman
Klingelhutz and seconded by Councilman Hill that the new Planning Commission be
authorized to use the Village Engineer and Attorney when ever necessary. Councilman
Klingelhutz amends said motion to read the Planning Commission be authorized to use
the Village Engineer and Attorney when ever nee'essary, but to contact them through
the Village Clerk. Councilman Bennyhoff seconds said amended motion. All in favor
of motion as amended. All in favor of motion, no negative votes. On a motion made
by Councilman Hill and seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff that the Planning Commission
have one scheduled meeting per month, on the first Tuesday of every month and other
meetings as necessary. And urging the Planning Commission to get at it. Motion
carried, no negative votes. The Council suggests that the Planning Commission
consult with the County Planners.
BUILDING PERMITS On a motion made by Councilman Hill that in every case of a
building permit requested no action be taken by the Council until recommendation
by the Planning Commission. Councilman Tessness seconds the motion. Councilman
Tessness moves that the above motion be amended to read that in every case anything
classified above residential or anything unusual no action be taken by the Council
until recommendation by the Planning Commission. Amended motion seconded by
Councilman Bennyhoff. All in favor of motion as amended. Motion carried, no
negative votes.
APARTMENT PERMIT On a motion made by Councilman 'Tessn®ssTand seconded by Council-
man Hill that the Council authorize a building permit for an apartment Building
on lots 5 & 6 Block 2, Highland Park Addition. Building to be 4ol R 86 maximum
as per drawing #1. It is noted at the time of the original application the building
was to be 101 X 821. All other requirements shown on detail sheet #1 Motion
carried, no negative votes. Councilman Klingelhutz abstains from voting.
Councilman Hill wishes a 10 minute adjournment.
PLANNING COMMISSION CONTINUED On a motion made by Councilman Hill and seconded
by Councilman Tessness that the Chairman of the Planning Commission be authorized
to hire a clerical assistant and purchase supplies for a period of three months.
Motion carried, no negative votes.
On a motion made by Councilman Tessness and seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff that
the Planning Commission be composed of not more than 11 members. Councilman Tessness
withdraws his motion, Councilman Bennyhoff withdraws his second. On a motion made
by Councilman Klingelhutz and seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff that the Planning
Commission be composed of not more than 9 members and a quarum of 5 members. Motion
carried, no negative votes. On a motion made by Councilman Hill and seconded by
Councilman Bennyhoff that Nicholas Waritz be appointed to the Planning Commission.
Motion carried, no negative votes.

INSURANCE POLICIES On a motion made by Councilman Tessness and seconded by
Councilman Hill to consolidate all Village Insurance Policies with the present
Village Policy and that all Township Policies be terminated.. Motion carried,
nc) negative votes.
INVENTORY The Council desires an inventory on all Village Equipment.
1967 -2 & 3 STREET IMPROVEMENT AND STORM SEWER PROJECT The 1967 -2 & 3 Street
Improvemeent and Storm Sewer project were discussed. Attorney Larson stated
he would present a final document at the Monday July 17th meeting.
The Council desires to pay bills due every Monday night for the time being.
On a motion made by Councilman Klingelhutz and seconded by Councilman Hill
that all approved bills be paid as per itemized sheet. Motion carried no
negative votes.
MUNICIPAL BUILDING On a motion made by Councilman Tessness and seconded by
Councilman Hill that the Village authorize $30,000.00 for completion of Village
Offices in Municipal Building. Motion carried, no negative votes.
CHANGE ORDER ON MUNICIPAL BUILDING On a motion made by Councilman Klingelhutz
and seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff that the Village approve the change order
on the Municipal Building authorizing alternate #2 from Synder Electric to
furnish and install and lamp 12 keystone fixtures KL 296 -ho for $825.00.
Motion carried, no negative votes.
T- E -LECT Representatives from T- E -Lect would like to arrange a meeting with
the Village Council in the very near future. The Council requested that a
meeting be set up for Tuesday July 18, 1967 if this meets with approval with
the.representatives from T- E -Lect.
On a motion made by Councilman Tessness and seconded by Councilman Klingelhutz
the meeting be adjourned. _
