1967 09 11CHANHASSEN VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 11, 1967
The Chanhassen Village Council met in regular meeting at 8:00 P.M. at the Village
Hall. The following members were present: Mayor Coulter., Councilmen Bennyhoff,
Hill Klingelhutz and Pearson present.
On a motion made by Councilman Hill and seconded by Councilman Pearson the minutes
of the August 28th meeting be approved. Motion unanimously approved.
PRIVATE DISPOSAL SYSTEM A discussion was held on Private Disposal System. A
Suggestion was made that no building permit be issued unless a general layout is
shown including the Sewage and Drainage plans. There will be no action taken until
the Plumbing Inspector appears at a Council meeting and discusses this further.
SUNSET VIEW - HILL STREET Several interested persons were present in regards to
Hill street. Some of the parties want this road closed off others wish it to
remain open with some road maintenance done to it. It was brought to the Councilts
attention that this road has never been accepted by the Village and or Township.
Said road is 16 feet wide.
This matter was turned over to the Engineer for further study and to report back
to the Council at the September 25th Council meeting his findings. At which time
all interested persons should attend.
BUILDING PERMIT - CHANHASSEN DINING THEATER On a motion made by Councilman Hill
and seconded by Councilman Klingelhutz that a building permit be granted to Herb
Bloomberg for the construction of the Chanhassen Dining Theater. Motion unanimously
approved.
PICK -UP T RUCK : On a motion made by Councilman Klingelhutz and seconded by Councilman
Hill that Richard Pearson - Councilman and Henry Wrase be appointed to write up the
specifications on the new pick -up the Village intends to let out on bids. Motion
unanimouuly approved.
NYC OUT -OF- SCHOOL PROJECT On a motion made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by
Councilman Pearson that Henry Wrase hire the youth from the NYC Out -of- School project
for a period of six months. Motion unanimously approved.
Wrase to make arrangements. It's noted that this program will not be of any expense
to the Village.
ROSE LANE: The Council wishes that the fence at Rose Lane be taken down on September
18 enabling boats to be taken off the lake.
DRAINAGE PROBLEM Mr. Clyde Hehl present wishes that the drainage problem which
exists behind his property be corrected. The Council instructed the Engineer and
Wrase to check into said problem.
CLEAN -UP PROJECT - TUTUS LAKE Councilman Hill gave a explanation exactly how the
Conservation Department goes about cleaning out the lakes.
On a motion made by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by Councilman Pearson instructing
Councilman Hill to proceed with Clean -up Project Lotus Lake in conjunction with the
Conservation Department. Motion unanimously approved.
SCHMIDTMS ACRES Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Grace were present requesting that the Village
maintain the cartway dedicated to the public in 1914 which is 163g feet wide. The
Attorney advised the Council that this road has not been accepted byr the Village
and or Township because of it's width. A discussion followed. On a motion made by
Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman Hill that this matter be tabled for
further discussion at another meeting. Motion unanimously approved:.

BUILDING PERMIT Mr, Claude Sinnen was present requesting a variance on a lot size to
build a home, He was told by the Planning Commission to appear before the Council at
this meeting. He had appeared before the Planning Commission a week ago. Therefore,,
being that the Planning Commission had not turned over any papers, minutesp or recommend-
ations to the Council this matter will have to betabled. On a motion made by Council-
man Pearson and seconded by Councilman Hill. that we table this matter for further
discussion until at another meeting. Motion unanimously approved. Mr. Sinnen to appear
at the - Council meeting next Monday evening,
PLANNING COMMISSION The Clerk is to notify the Chairman of the Planning Commission
that hereafter if they areto refer to us people we must insist that we have their
minutes and the necessary papers before our meeting.
BUILDING INSPECTOR Adolph Tessness presented a proposed Building Ordinance. Several
suggestions and changes were made. Changes to be written up and proposed at the next
meeting. Tessness requested that he be authorized to have the application for building
permits printed at Clemens Press for 300 copies of type set for $50.00.
On a motion made by Councilman Hill and seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff that Tessness
be authorized to purchase the type set printing of Application for Building Permits.
Motion unanimously approved.
It was suggested that the Carver County Platting Code be obtained and studied.
GREENWOOD SHORES The Attorney advised the Council that he has asked for a continuance-
regarding the vacating of the Greenwood Shores Park Hearing. The Attorney advised that
this Council invite all those interested parties from Greenwood Shores to a meeting to
express their views on the vacating of Greenwood Shores.
WEED The Council instructed the Clerk and Maintenance man to add 25% for handling
for all those persons who have not paid their weed cutting and spraying }gill if it has
to be placed on taxes.
TRUCKS All the Maintenance Vehicles will have a number starting from number 101 and up.
BILLS On a motion made by Councilman Hill and seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff that
all bills be paid as submitted. Motion unanimously approved.
A motion made by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman Bennyhoff to adjourn,
