1967 12 04CHANHASSEN VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING DECEMBER 4, 1967
The Chanhassen Village Council met in regular meeting on December 4,
1967, at 8:00 P.M. The following members were present: Mayor Coulter,
Councilmen Klingelhutzs Pearson, and Bennyhoff. Councilman Hill was
absent. It is noted because of the, absence tonight of one Councilman,
Mayor Coulter will be voting on all motions.
On a motion made by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman
Klingelhutz that the minutes be approved as submitted. Motion unanimously
approved.
CHURCH ASSESSMENT: Councilman Klingelhutz gave a report on the meeting
he had regarding the assessments for Saint Hubert*s Church and School.
The church officials have requested that when the storm sewer - assessment
is determined they desire to have the home and vacant lot assessed on
a residential basis.
Councilman Klingelhutz also noted that the church has not received the
check from Gleason for damages encountered when the basement of the
Sisters House was flooded. Councilman Klingelhutz also reported that
the catch basin across from the bakery could pose a problem. The
Council instructed Councilman Klingelhutz to take this up with the
Engineer. The footage on the curb and gutter has been satisfactorily
worked out to everyones approval.
A SUB, #2: Mayor Coulter explained to the Council that Lot 12
in Auditor',s Sub. #2 has several owners and that in order to clear this
lot a Quitclaim Deed must be obtained. The cost will be between $100.00
and $200.00. On a motion ;,ujade, by _C_opp -,q lman Bennyhoff and seconded by
,Councilman Pearson that the Attorney be given authority to establish
title to Lot 12 Auditorts Sub. #2. Motion unanimously approved. It
Is noted here that Mayor Coulter is a part owner of Lot 12 Auditorts
Sub. #2.
MILO BABATZ: Mr. Milo Babatz and his contractor were present requesting
Council permission to build a home on a piece of property where all the
requirements do not comply with our Ordinance. It is noted that Mr.
Babatz did appear before the Planning Commission and his request was
denied by the Planning Commission. On a motion made by Councilman
Bennyhoff and seconded by Councilman Pearson that we refer this to the
Village Attorney. Motion unanimously approved.
ADDITION TO ANIMAL FAIR: Mr.. Herb Bloomberg was present and presented
to the Council a plan for an addition to Animal Fair. On a motion made
by Councilman Bennyhoff and seconded by Councilman Pearson that the
Village Council approve the addition to Animal Fair subject to the
approval of the Planning Commission. Motion unanimously approved. It
is noted that the addition will cost about $180

REFUND: On a motion made by Councilman Klingelhutz
Councilman Bennyhoff that the money be refunded to
for building permit which was taken out for a home

DUMP PERMIT: The Dump Permit was discussed. Councilman Klingelhutz
reported that Mr. Roy Teich is going to present a written request for
a Dump Permit. The Council advises Mr. Teich to go through the
Planning Commission.
SHEEHAN PROBLEM: Councilman Klingelhutz reported that he has had
several telephone calls from Mr. Sheehan, Councilman Klingelhutz
advised Sheehan to appear before the Council.
1967 -2 & 3: Councilman Bennyhoff reported that Harold Hegberg has
spoken to him regarding the disappearance of the chain and cement
post by his driveway. The Clerk will instruct the Engineer to check
into this.
CARVER COUNTY LEAGUE OF ELECTED OFFICIALS: The Council appoints
Al Klingelhutz and Dick Pearson to represent`' the` V1,11age the Carver
County League of Elected Officials.
PARK ORDINANCE #14: As was stated at the last Council meeting a
decision on Ordinance #14 would be made at 9:30 tonight. There were
several landowners and developers present. A discussion followed.
on Option fl on the amount of gross area to be dedicated and that the
developer and Council negotiate the amount of area. A revised proposed
ordinance was presented to each Councilman. On a motion made by
Councilman Klingelhutz and seconded by Councilman Pearson that Option #1
be changed to read not to exceed 7% of the gross area and that the
developer and Council negotiate said amount (note: the wording.is
subject to Attorney's corrections). Option f2 to remain as is.
Option #3 to remain as is. Motion unanimously approved.
COMPLAINT: Mr. Al Roushar reported to the Council that - shooting has
been going on near his" JYVapdrty .db 4sked that this be checked into.
The Council iiastructs the Police Officer to check into this.
MEETINGS: The Council meeting nights for the remaining part of•December
will be on December 11th and December 26th,
OFFICE ESUIPMENT: On a motion made by Councilman Pearson and seconded
by Councilman Klingelhutz that the Clerk order a chair and desk for
the Deputy Clerk. Motion unanimously approved.
OFFICE CE COMPLETION: On a motion made by Councilman Pearson and seconded
by Councilman Bennyhoff that completion of the Village Offices be
authorized - mainlyp to strip walls install pre- finished masonite
paneling rubber base and two doorsg not to.exceed $860.00. Motion
unanimously approved.
On a motion made by Councilman Klingelhutz and seconded by Councilman
Pearson the meeting adjourned.
