CHANHASSEN VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING DECEMBER 26, 1967
The Chanhassen Village Council met in regular meeting on December 26,
1967, at 8:00 P.M. The following members were present: Mayor Coulter,
Councilmen Klingelhutz and Pearson. Councilmen Bennyhoff and Hill were
absent.
On a motion made by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman
Klingelhutz the minutes from the December 11 and 18th meetings be
approved as submitted. Motion unanimously approved.
WATER EXTENSION: A letter was read from Herb Bloomberg and Vern Zetah
requesting that the water main be extended to service their properties.
A discussion was held. On a motion made by Councilman Klingelhutz and
seconded by Councilman Pearson that the Council authorize the extension
of the water main from McAllister's north property line to approximately
200 feet north. Motion unanimously approved.
The Engineer is to arrange this extension and is also to make a study of
the existing assessments and report back to the Council.
HIGHWAY ENTRANCE PERMITS: Mr. Herb Bloomberg submitted a written request
for two entrance permits, one off Highway #101 and one off Highway #5.
A discussion followed. On a motion made by Councilman Pearson and
seconded by Councilman Klingelhutz that the Village Council approve
entrance permit #5A-5AD-67 No. 150 off Highway #101 upon approval of the
County and State Highway Departments. Motion unanimously approved.
Councilman Pearson moved that the above motion does not indicate our
approval of land usage without prior approval of zoning and preliminary
plans by the Planning Commission and the Village Council. Motion
seconded by Mayor Coulter and unanimously approved.
On a motion made by Councilman Klingelhutz and seconded by Councilman
Pearson that permit #5A-5AD-67 No. 151 application of access entrance
permit off Highway #5 be referred to a committee for further study and
that Mayor Coulter select the members to serve on said committee.
Motion unanimously approved. Mayor Coulter selects Councilmen Pearson
and Klingelhutz and the Village Engineer to serve on the committee.
NORTHERN CONTRACTING: Two final bills were presented from Northern
Contracting regarding the final payment on St. John's Street and Kerber
Drive. On a motion made by Councilman Klingelhutz and seconded by
Councilman Pearson to table these bills until the January 15, 1968, Council
meeting. Motion unanimously approved.
1967-4 PROJECT: Mr. Ward Passe was present. He is concerned as to
whether there is to be any more rock hauled in on the roads in Sunrise
Hills. The Engineer told him they can expect to have 1500 ton of rock
placed there. This will be done in Spring.
FIRE DEPARTMENT: Adolph Tessness, speaking in behalf of the Fire
Department, explained to the Council the necessity of purchasing more
hose. It was also pointed out that at times the Maintenance Department
must use the hose, and by obtaining more hose for the Fire Department,
the Maintenance Department could then take the old hose that, -,the' -,Fire
Department has which would be suitable for their use. The Council
instructed the Fire Department to draw up bid specifications for the hose.

GASOLINE BIDS: On a motion made by Councilman Pearson and seconded
by Councilman Klingelhutz to accept the lowest responsible bid for
gasoline and Diesel Fuel which was Standard Oil. Motion unanimously
approved.
1967-2, 3 & 4 BILLS: On a motion made by Councilman Pearson and
seconded by Councilman Klingelhutz to approve and pay the following bills
out of the 1967-2, 3 & 4 Fund. Don Nolty, Fiscal Agent, $4,125.00;
Dorsey, Marquart, Windhorst, West, and Halladay, $875.00. Motion
unanimously approved.
METROPOLITAN SECTION OF THE LEAGUE: On a motion made by Councilman
Klingelhutz and seconded by Councilman Pearson that the Village join the
Metropolitan Section of the League after January 1, 1968. Motion
unanimously approved.
TYPEWRITER: On a motion made by Councilman Pearson and seconded by
Councilman Klingelhutz that the Village lease the IBM Selectric Typewriter
for one year with option to buy. Motion unanimously approved.
CLASS 8 FIRE RATING: It is noted that the Village has received a letter
from the Fire Underwriters stating that Sunrise Hills is now in a Class
8 Fire rating.
ORDINANCES: Several ordinances were given each Councilman to take and
study and return at the next meeting with their recommendations. The
Park and Recreation Ordinance was sent to the Attorney for his approval.
COUNCIL COMMITTEES: A proposed list of Council Committees was
discussed. The Clerk is to type up the list and present at the next
meeting for Council approval.
On a motion made by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman
Klingelhutz, the meeting adjourned.
