BOX 147 • CHANHASSEN, MINNESOTA 55317 (612) 937 -1900 • FAX (612) 937 -5739 TO: Don Ashworth, City Manager ' FROM: Charles Folch, Director of Public Works /City Engineer ' DATE: August 11, 1994 SUBJ: Approve Plans and Specifications for County Road 17 (Powers Boulevard) Surcharging Project, Carver County Project - City Project No. 93 -29 I( In conjunction with the proposed Carver County Road 17 (Powers Boulevard) improvement project from ' Trunk Highway 5 south to Lyman Boulevard, an initial surcharging operation is scheduled to be conducted this fall. The proposed surcharging area is approximately 800 feet in length located immediately east of ' the cxis ng County Road 17 roadway south of Lake Drive. The surcharging operation is anticipated to take approximately six to nine months to complete. Therefore, initiating the operation this fall would likely render this area ready for the construction of the proposed roadway improvements next summer. ' Cin order to accomplish the surcharging operation within the constr ined timeframe, this work is proposed to be bid and constructed under a separate Carver County contract. During this fall and winter, the plans and specifications for the overall roadway improvement project w' be prepared for a contract letting in ' the spring of 1995. All necessary agency permits, including the EAW process for this project, will be obtained prior to initiating this work. ' As indicated earlier, this is a Carver County roadway improvement project; however specified in the cooperative agency agreement between the City and Carver County, the City is aske o concur with the approval of the project plans in this case for the initial surcharge operation. Due to the size of the plans and specifications, it is > notl practical to include them with each Council packet; however, a copy is ' available in my office for review should anyone desire.
