BOX 147 • CHANHASSEN, MINNESOTA 55317 (612) 937 -1900 • FAX (612) 937 -5739 TO: Don Ashworth, City Manager FROM: Charles Folch, Director of Public Works /City Engineer DATE: December 5, 1994 can by City Administrator E to Commissla Dale Sup ri*cad to CotN41 iJ. -i -9y SUBJ: Approve Plans and Specifications for Southwest Regional LRT Trails - Pedestrian Bridge No. 10533 over Trunk Highway 101 (Hennepin County Parks Project) File No. PW -350 ' Staff has recently received draft plans and specifications for the proposed Southwest Regional LRT trail /pedestrian bridge over Trunk Highway 101 m This pedestrian bridge is proposed to be located where the old railroad trestle of the Chi914" o &Northwestern Railroad existed on TH 101 just north of Trunk Highway 212 which, incidently, tCVas renf ed last year as a part of the overall railroad abandonment of this corridor. I am certain that e Council is quite familiar with this corridor since there have been a number of discussions regarding J e use of this: ail, particularly during the winter months. The bridge will be a reinforced concrete 'tbstructure with either a reinforced concrete or timber deck on steel or concrete stringers. The project Js`being bid as design buiRd project. The bridge structure will also t include the vinyl- coated fencing wi*'the portion of the bridge aver TH 101 being fully enclosed in the fencing. The project is intended to`be advertised for bids during Juary/February 1995 with construction during the summer of 1995 ' Staff has had the o ortuni , to review'the P laps vv h "reg'ards"to pity concerns and finds no objections.
