Approve Revision to Consultant Services Contract for BC-7 and
BC-8 Trunk Utilities - Project No. 00-01-1
City Council is requested to approve an increase to the consultant contract with HTPO from
$178,500.00 to $182,000.00. This revision is contingent upon receipt by the City of the
required cash escrow and agreement from the petitioning property o~vner for the preparation
of the feasibility study. Only HTPO was requested to submit a cost proposal for the work.
The City has received a petition from a developer on Dogwood Road for the extension of
sanitary sexver and water to the properties shown below.
The City has an open Consultant Contract with HTPO for the BC 7 & 8 Trunk Utilities
Project No. 00-01. The utilities being requested are an extension of this project. In addition,
HTPO, Inc. did a previous feasibility study for extension of utilities to the Dogwood
neighborhood and has a working relationship with the neighborhood. (The previous study
was to serve the existing properties. A revised study is necessary to take into account the
development and revisions to the BC 7 & 8 alignment since the previous study.)
The petitioner is aware of the City's policy to require a security for the preparation of the
feasibility study.
Attachments: 1. Proposal from HTPO.
2. Petition from Developer.

Dear Matt:
This letter is to provide you with amendments to our Fee for Services
for the BC-7 Sanitary Sewer and BC-8 Trunk Sanitary Sewer and
Lateral Watermain Improvement Project No. 00-01. The potential
change is for a revised Dogwood Road Feasibility Study to include
serving an additional 30 lots.
In the current plans for BC7 and BC8 there are two alternates for
BC8. Alternate #1 is very close to the utility route used in the
original feasibility study for Dogwood Road. Revising the study for
Alternate #1 will be accomplished quickly and cost effectively. We
also should consider the potential of BC8 Alternate #2 being the
connection point. Alternate #2 eliminates the gravity sewer option
for Dogwood Road.
Our understanding of the work for the revised feasibility study is
that it will entail the following:
1. Sketch plans to connect to either Alternate #1, or Alternate #2 of
BC8.
2. Preliminary cost estimates for the alternates to the two
connection points.
3. Revise the verbiage of the study.
4. Preliminary assessment rolls
5. Provide presentation materials and attend one neighborhood
meeting.
6. Present the revised study to the Council.

We estimate our fees for the revision to be $3,500.00. If the revision is
pursued it will change our contract total from $178,500.00 to
$182,000.00. If you have any questions regarding this change, or
require further explanation, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dear Matt:
This letter is to request that the City of Chanhassen revise or update the feasibility report that was
recently prepared for the Dogwood Road / Camp Tanadoona area. We would, be interested in a
public improvement project for sanitary sewer and water as well as roadway to not only serve the
existing homes on Dogwood Road, but also the potential new homes on the Carlson and Brandt
properties.
If you should have any questions or need any additional in_formation please do not hesitate to
call.
Sincerely,
