PROPOSED MOTION
"The City Council approves a resolution of support for a Local Road
Improvement Grant application for roadway improvements at TH 101 and
Pioneer Trail."
City Council approval requires a simple majority vote of the City Council
present.

Staff is requesting that City Council approve a resolution of support for a grant

application for improvements to the intersection of TH 101 and Pioneer Trail. The grant

application is for roadway widening, turn lane, signal, and drainage improvements at the
intersection. The improvements will improve the safety and operation of the intersection.

match the new TH 101 roadway section.

cities and counties in paying the costs of constructing or reconstructing local road

If the City's application is successful, the grant will provide additional funding for the

overall TH 101 project. Staff has been working with MnDOT and Carver County to
establish a financing package for the project. The Local Road Improvement Program was

WHEREAS, the intersection of TH 101 and Pioneer Trail is in need of roadway widening,
turn lane, signal, and drainage improvements in order to improve safety and operation of the
intersection; and
WHEREAS, the City is working with MnDOT and Carver County on the design of TH 101
between Lyman Boulevard and Pioneer Trail; and
WHEREAS, the 2011 Legislature approved $10 Million of state transportation bond funds
to assist townships, cities and counties in paying for construction or reconstructing of local road
projects; and
WHEREAS, if the application is successful, the grant will provide additional funding for
the overall TH 101 project.
NOW THERE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Chanhassen supports a grant
application for a Local Road Improvement Grant for intersection improvements at TH 101 and
Pioneer Trail.
