FROM: JeffM. DATE: June 6, 2001 RE: New Ordinances After receiving numerous calls from frustrated citizens in the city, I feel that these proposed ordinances are neceSsary to help keep a nuisance free environment in the City of Chanhassen. In creating these ordinances, I met with a small group of concerned citizens from the Minnewashta Heights neighborhood. 'They felt, as I do, that the sale of vehicles in a residential neighborhood has a blighting effect on the entire neighborhood and on the city. In addition to the sales of vehicles, I have been receiving an increasing number of calls about boats and recreational vehicles parked on the street. At this time there are no clear definitions as to how long a vehicle is parked on the street. The problem is trying to determine if it is a hazard or not, so enforcement is fairly vague. I am finding that people are using the street to store their vehicles rather than their property. I feel that these ordinances will make enforcement much easier since limits are clearly defined. If necessary such as in the case of friends visiting in an RV exceptions can be made by the city. Any questions, call me. Jeff The City o£Chauhassen.
