Approval requires a simple majority vote of the council. The 70 inch monitor will be purchased Fax: 952.227.1310 City staff has received many complaints about the audience sound experience in Park & Recreation the City Council Chambers. Although the broadcast equipment was upgraded in Phone: 952.227.1120 2009, no improvements were made at that time to the in- chambers sound system. Fax: 952.227.1110 Staff also proposes to rebuild the staff desks and podium area. The current desks Staff has worked with Tim Flesner at TouchPoint Logic to recommend system Recreation Center 2310 Coulter Boulevard upgrades that will improve the audio levels in the Chambers. With the new Phone: 952.227.1400 system, all microphones will be "closed" and the person speaking will turn on Fax: 952.227.1404 their own microphone. If they forget, AV room staff will be able to control the microphones. This change will allow for the addition of speakers in the podium, Planning & the Dais, and in the ceiling. Public Works Staff proposes to add an additional 70- inch monitor to the north wall of the 7901 Park Place Council Chambers (adjacent to the closet) to improve visibility of presentations Phone: 952.227.1300 and images from the document camera. The 70 inch monitor will be purchased Fax: 952.227.1310 from Costco for $2,600. The install and programming will be purchased from TouchPoint for $2,560. The current desks were not designed to accommodate the computer and other equipment currently in Web Site use in the Chambers. This portion of the project is estimated at $7,830. These improvements will be funded by 2012 PEG fees. The PEG fee funds are specifically required to be used for expenditures relating to improving public communications and the broadcasting of public meetings. Staff did obtain pricing on these items from other vendors and finds the proposal from TouchPoint to be competitive.
