REGULAR MEETING
SUMMARY MINUTES
MAY 14, 2012
Mayor Furlong called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. The meeting was opened with the Pledge to
the Flag.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Furlong, Councilman McDonald, Councilwoman
Tjornhom, Councilwoman Ernst, and Councilman Laufenburger
STAFF PRESENT: Todd Gerhardt, Laurie Hokkanen, Paul Oehme, Kate Aanenson, Todd Hoffman,
Richard Rice, and Andrea Poehler

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS: None.
CONSENT AGENDA: Councilwoman Ernst moved, Councilwoman Tjornhom seconded to
approve the following consent agenda items pursuant to the City Manager's recommendations:
a. Approval of Minutes:
-City Council Work Session Minutes dated April 23, 2012
-City Council Verbatim and Summary Minutes dated April 23, 2012
Receive Commission Minutes:
- Planning Commission Verbatim and Summary Minutes dated April 7, 2012
b. Approve Residential Purchase Agreement with Mark & Kari Nettesheim, 9201 and 9151 Great
Plains Boulevard.
c. Award of Contract: 2012 Tennis Court Reconstruction Project.
d. Resolution #2012 -29: Approve Resolution Accepting Donation from KleinBank for 2012
Summer Concert Series.
e. Resolution #2012 -30: Approve Quotes for Sealcoating and Crack Sealing.
f. Resolution #2012 -31: Resolution Accepting Grant from CenterPoint Energy and Approving the
Purchase of Two Thermal Cameras for the Fire Department.
g. Approval of Temporary On -Sale Liquor License, Harvest Festival, August 18 & 19, St. Hubert's
Catholic Community, 8201 Main Street.
h. Resolution #2012 -32: Lake Ann Park Southeast Parking Lot Paving: Approve Quote.
i. Approve Payment to Carver County for Aerial Photography & GIS Data.
All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 5 to 0.
City Council Summary — May 14, 2012
VISITOR PRESENTATIONS:
MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS MONTH, COUNCILWOMAN ERNST & SHERIFF JIM
OLSON.
Councilwoman Ernst and Sheriff Jim Olson provided statistics associated with May being nationally
recognized as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Sheriff Olson also provided updates on burglaries
occurring within the community, the capture of 4 individuals associated with those burglaries and an
update on construction occurring on Highway 5.
PRESENTATION OF GRANT MONEY FOR THERMAL IMAGING CAMERAS,
CENTERPOINT ENERGY.
Todd Gerhardt informed the council that the representative from CenterPoint Energy was unable to attend
and would reschedule this item.
PRESENTATION OF MASTER PLAN, CAMP TANADOONA, MARNIE WELLS.
Marnie Wells provided background information on the Campfire organization and history of Camp
Tanadoona before introducing the master plan for renovations to Camp Tanadoona beginning in June,
2013. At this point a short movie was shown showing how the master plan was shaped. Adam Arvidson
reviewed the details of the master plan.
RESIDENTIAL PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT (PUD -R) AMENDMENTS: REQUEST TO
AMEND THE FOLLOWING RESIDENTIAL PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENTS:
ARBORETUM VILLAGE, HIGHLANDS AT BLUFF CREEK, AND LIBERTY ON BLUFF
CREEK. APPLICANT: CITY OF CHANHASSEN.
Kate Aanenson presented background information and Planning Commission update on the Residential
Planned Unit Development amendments. Todd Gerhardt thanked Kate Aanenson and her staff for all
their hard in undertaking this task.
Councilman McDonald moved, Councilwoman Tjornhom seconded that the City Council approves
the attached ordinances rezoning the following Planned Unit Developments: Arboretum Village,
Highlands at Bluff Creek, Liberty on Bluff Creek and adopt the attached Findings of Fact. All
voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 5 to 0.
COUNCIL PRESENTATIONS. Councilman McDonald recognized Tim and Ginger Mulcrone who
were honored at the Rotary's Tulip Gala with the outstanding citizens award and provided an update on
donations raised for this year's charity Camp Tanadoona. Councilman Laufenburger showed pictures
from the Chanhassen Red Birds home opener game held on Sunday.
ADMINISTRATIVE PRESENTATIONS. Todd Gerhardt provided an update on the watercraft
inspection program at Lake Ann, Lake Susan and Lotus Lake and the collaborative effort between the
DNR, Riley - Purgatory -Bluff Creek Watershed District, and Lotus Lake Homeowners Association. He
also announced the City's new website will go live on Thursday and thanked city staff members involved
with that project.

Councilman Laufenburger moved, Councilman McDonald seconded to adjourn the meeting. All
voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 5 to 0. The City Council meeting
was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
