All existing skate park ramps and jumps will be removed, as will the bottom row of hockey boards, to make way for this new asphalt project. The existing asphalt has been in place for fourteen years and has aged to a point that re- surfacing is needed. QUOTES Quotes for this work were solicited from four contractors — Plehal Blacktopping, Inc. and Allied Blacktop Company elected to submit quotes. The city has hired both of these companies in the past with satisfactory or better work being received. Plehal Blacktopping, Inc. $38,710 Allied Blacktop Company $49,341 The quotes include the milling of existing asphalt as needed, sweeping, tack coat applied at .05 gallon per square yard, and the installation of 11/2 to 21/2 inches of MN /DOT 42A hot mix, rolling, and compacting. The proposed work is included in the 2012 Park and Trail Acquisition and Development CIP. SCHEDULE Upon approval, this work will be scheduled for the week of August 20 -25, 2012 per the proposed skate park rejuvenation time line. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council approve the quote from Plehal Blacktopping, Inc. in the amount of $38,710 to resurface the asphalt at the Chanhassen Skate Park and hockey rink in City Center Park.
