MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor
City Council
FROM: Scott A. Botcher, City Manager ~
DATE: October 20, 1999
SUB J: Discussion of Chamber of Commerce Meeting
As you are aware, the council has a gathering with the Chamber of Commerce on
October 29ti~ at the Recreation Center. This is the date set following our last joint
meeting at the Chamber. Assuming that the Chamber comes to us with policy or
legislative recommendations for the council, you may want to give some
consideration as to your modus operandi at that meeting. I do not believe that it is
your best interests to try to give responses to issues off the cuff as they are
presented. I think it is in our best interests to discuss with them the issues that
they present so as to gain a full and complete understanding of the legislative
policies presented and the reasons for the development of these policies.
Following that, the council can take these issues under advisement, as with any
other legislative proposal from special interest groups throughout the community,
as the legislative year progresses.
