MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Scott A. Botcher, City Manager~
DATE: July 8, 1999
SUB J: Financing Issues Discussed at Last Council Work Session
As part of the discussion regarding the potential Public Works building expansion
and potential Public Works Utility Department operational issues (control panels),
council directed staff to prepare financial data for consideration as you deliberate
these issues. Springsted is in the process of putting these together and have
indicated that they will be available and delivered July 12th. It is my belief that
the data presented by Springsted will not be terribly difficult to digest or
understand; however, should you wish to table any issues until such time as you
can digest the data presented by Springsted, that is certainly an acceptable
direction.
On a related note, I have discussed with Pam the issues of the contingencies
placed in the 1999 Budget by the council last fall. From the Y2K budget of
$25,000, an amount of $11,850 is remaining as only the Microsoft Office 2000
software has been purchased. In the other contingency, which I believe is in the
amount of $700,000, there have been no dollars expended from this amouni at this
time.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
