MEMORANDUM
1 TO: Don Ashworth, City Manager
I FROM: Charles Folch, City Engineer
DATE: July 21, 1993
I SUBJ: Approve Plans and Specifications for 1993 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project; Authorize
Advertising for Bids - Project No. 93 -7
1 Plans and specifications have been prepared for the 1993 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Program. The 1993 City
Budget allocated $350,000 towards the 1993 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Program along with the carryover of
the remaining 1992 budget as approved by the City Counci This year's program has been derived based on
I remaining work from the original 1989 Sanitary Sewer Study and subsequent 1991 and 1992 annual sewer
televising programs.and includes work which was previously proposed for the 1992 program but was unable to
be completed due to unfavorable bids last fall. The work snipe consists of testing and sealing of joints and
I manholes, line spot repairs and rebuilds and relining: Pipe relining will be implemented in strategic areas to
eliminate cutting into streets that are in good condition. The attached location map displays the areas included
in this year's program. A copy of the plans and specifications are available in my office for review.
1 , . ,
This year's program will again reaffirm to,:the MWCC Chanhassen's commitment to reducing the
infiltration /inflow problem within our sanitary sewer infrastructure. I_ am also very pleased to announce that the
MWCC has approved Chanhassen's grant application in the amount of $10,000 for this year's sanitary sewer
1 rehabilitation program. It is therefore recommended that the plans specifications for the 1993 Sanitary
Sewer Rehabilitation Program, Project: No. 93=7 be approved and that authorization be given to advertise for
bids.
