SUBJ: Appointments to the Planning Commission As the City Council is aware, there are three vacant positions on the Planning Commission. 1 Commissioners Erhart, Emmings and Ahrens have decided to leave the Commission for several reasons. Commissioners Erhart and Emmings have served the Commission extremely well for many years and have decided to make way for new blood. Commissioner Ahrens has found that I increased family commitments with the birth of her son, as well as time constraints posed by a new job, make her unable to serve. ' ff placed ads in the Chanhassen Villager on two occasions to solicit sufficient applicants to ,e‘'+' for the openings. We believe that we have been able to get a good crop of individuals I for your consideration. A total of 8 people interviewed for the 3 openings. The Planning Commission interviewed them on January 6th. As requested by the Mayor, the individuals were ranked in order in terms of the Planning Commission's preference. Their applications are I /fl, /e, tttahed or your review. The rank ordering is as follows: n r, e. /e ...,... Nancy Mancino 1 Oz.-1:e (Tied) Diane Harberts and John Luce 3. Judi Kurth w i 4 Q4.- 4. Joe Scott I .g.Blaufuss 6. . Marilyn Poston 7. Thomas Dotzenrod I The voting would indicate that the top 5 individuals (Mancino to Scott) were fairly well clustered in terms of the number of votes received. 1 1 If I t PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER 1 1 Don Ashworth January 7, 1993 1 Page 2 STAFF RECOMMENDATION 1 Staff recommends that the City Council select three individuals to fill out the open terms on the Planning Commission.
