Klingelhutz Memorial Pavilion. We feel there are many reasons that this would be an appropriate action. 1. Al Klingelhutz served the citizens of Chanhassen in many roles over the years including as a councilmember, as the mayor and as a Carver County Commissioner. 2. He played a key role in the formal incorporation of the Village of Chanhassen and of establishing its present boundaries by advocating for the incorporation of the various townships. 3. Al Klingelhutz had the moniker "Mr. Chanhassen" yet, even though he was active in the development of the City for decades, there is currently no street named after him. 4. Most importantly, Lake Ann Park, the crown jewel of our beautiful city's park system very probably wouldn't even exist if it weren't for Al's foresight and advocacy. He played an instrumental role in its acquisition for which we are deeply grateful. For these reasons we respectfully ask that you seek approval from the Council to investigate our request such that the process towards the format adoption of the naming of the pavilion may begin. Sincerely, The Board of Directors for the Chanhassen Historical Society Paula Atkins Lynn Murphy Ronald Roeser Arthur Mason David Porath Nancy Simpson Claire Mitchell Sandy Rodenz Kenneth Smith 1 ‘ CITY OF CHANHAS SEN POLICY STATEMENT Naming or Re- naming Public Facilities and Infrastructure Background: From time -to -time the Council is asked through a request or initiates itself, an action to name or re -name a public facility and/or infrastructure improvement.
