1 MEMORANDUM
TO: Don Ashworth, City Manager
FROM: Charles Folch, City Engineer
1 DATE: April 6, 1993
SUBJ: Award of Bids for Railroad Grade Crossing, Trunk Highway 101 Realignment
(North Leg) - Project No. 88 -22B -1
Due to time constraints in the project schedule and the minimum requirements that need
to be met for the advertisement of bids, the earliest that the bid opening could be scheduled
is Monday, April 12, 1993. In order to be able to initiate the process of ordering materials
1 for the crossing signals, etc. (which could take 10 weeks to receive), it would benefit the
project to award the bid as soon as possible following the bid opening. Waiting an
additional two weeks for the next Council meeting would likely affect the date of receiving
the needed materials for the project. Staff and the project engineer, Mr. Jon Horn of BRW,
will conduct the bid opening at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 12 and then review the bids
1 accordingly to verify the low bidder. References will then be checked in the afternoon and
a recommendation of the contract award will be made to the Council at the meeting.
