As a part of this upgrade, Chaska is also seeking modification to its current primary service area to include portions of Chanhassen (see attached map). As a part of their application, they are requesting a Resolution of Support from the city that will be submitted as evidence at the license upgrade hearing. The newly developed service area will result in a decrease in the time it takes to get to a service call. This is also Chanhassen's future growth area, which will undoubtedly experience greater call volumes as the area develops. Based on this information, staff recommends that the City Council approve the resolution supporting Chaska Ambulance in their efforts to upgrade their Basic Life Support license to an Advanced Life Support (ALS) license and to change the primary service area to include a portion of Chanhassen.
