Attached is a sample ballot with the questions that will be presented to the public for their consideration on November 4. No specific action is required on this item. ATTACHMENT 1. To vote against a question, fill in the oval next to the word "NO" for that question. SCHOOL DISTRICT BALLOT QUESTION 1 REVOCATION OF EXISTING REFERENDUM REVENUE AUTHORIZATION; APPROVAL OF NEW AUTHORIZATION The school board of Independent School District No. 112 has proposed to revoke its existing referendum revenue authorization of $496.08 per resident marginal cost pupil unit and to replace that authorization with a new authorization that would increase its general education revenue by $619.79 per resident marginal cost pupil unit. The additional revenue will be used to finance school operations. The property tax portion of the additional revenue will require an estimated referendum tax rate of approximately .121364% of the referendum market value of the school district for taxes payable in 2004, the first year the new authorization would be levied. The proposed new referendum revenue authorization would be applicable for ten years unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law. ~) YES (~) NO Shall the school district's existing referendum revenue authorization be revoked and the increase in the revenue proposed by the board of Independent School District No. 112 be approved? SCHOOL DISTRICT BALLOT QUESTION 2 APPROVAL OF SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND ISSUE YES so If Ballot Question 3 below is approved, shall the school board of Independent School District No. 112 be authorized to issue its general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $54,750,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including the construction and equipping of a new elementary school facility to be located in Victoria; the construction and equipping of an addition to the Chaska High School facility; the construction of water quality and air quality improvements to the Chaska Middle School West facility; the purchase of land for a future secondary school site; the repair and construction of improvements to various school district facilities; and the acquisition and installation of improved technology and technology systems and infrastructure in various school district facilities? BY VOTING "YES" ON THIS BALLOT QUESTION, YOU ARE VOTING FOR A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE. SCHOOL DISTRICT BALLOT QUESTION 3 APPROVAL OF NEW REFERENDUM REVENUE AUTHORIZATION TO OPERATE NEW SCHOOLS The school board of Independent School District No. 112 has proposed to increase its general education revenue by $148.45 per resident marginal cost pupil unit. The additional revenue will be used to finance school operations and the property tax portion thereof will require an estimated referendum tax rate of approximately .041017% of the referendum market value of the school district for taxes payable in 2004, the first year it is to be levied. The proposed referendum revenue authorization would be applicable for ten years unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law.
