1 Attached is Contract Change Order No. 3 for the Upper Bluff Creek Trunk Utility
Improvement Project No. 91 -17A. This is actually the first change order on this project
I which represents true revisions to planned work tasks. You may recall that the first change
order involved providing additional trunk sanitary sewer extension for the City of Chaska
for which they would bear the full cost. The second change order involved the installation
I of trunk sanitary sewer through wetland area during wintertime conditions for the upcoming
92 -5 trunk utility project. All costs associated with that change order will be paid from
Project No. 92 -5.
1 This change order can basically be subdivided into three parts. The first part involves the
extension of additional trunk sanitary sewer and watermain along Galpin Boulevard near
I the Stone Creek Addition. This work includes utilities originally proposed for Phase II of
the Upper Bluff Creek project; however, this work should be accomplished now before the
turn lane and landscaping improvements associated with the Stone Creek development are
1 completed. The net amount of this work amounts to $60,104.00. Again, this work is work
which would have been constructed with the proposed Phase II Utility Project No. 91 -17B.
The second subsection involves changes made to the lift station and generator to improve
maintenance operational functions and long -term cost savings. There are also two deduct
items involving interior painting and preparation and roof materials which amounts to nearly
$10,000. The final section of the change order involves extension of the completion dates
to the contract documents. Given the additional work items which have occurred to date
due to the three (3) change orders, it is proposed that all underground utility work and
1 restoration be extended approximately two weeks to June 18, lift station operation be
completed by July 21 and final project completion July 31.

The total dollar amount of Change Order No. 3 is $74,816.00. The revised contract amount,
1 including this change order, would be $2,538,045.75. It is therefore recommended that the
City Council approve Change Order No. 3 to the Upper Bluff Creek Trunk Utility
Improvement Project No. 91 -17A in the amount of $75,816.00.

Description of Work
Project No. 91 -17A.
This change order accomplishes the following three administrative tasks:
A) Addition of trunk sewer & water along Galpin Boulevard. ,
B) Lift Station & generator revisions.
C) Revision of completion dates.
Part A - Galpin Boulevard Trunk Sewer & Water. Part A of this change order includes additional trunk sanitary sewer and water
main along Galpin Boulevard near the Stone Creek Addition. The work includes utilities originally proposed for Phase II of th
project. The work will be completed under this project to accomodate turn lane and landscaping construction for the development
Part 13 - Miscellaneous Lift Station/Generator Changes. Part B of this change order includes miscellaneous revisions to the lift
station and generator. The revisions include operational and cost saving improvements. Additional work does not include an
prime contractor markup per agreement.
Part C - Revise Completion Dates. Project completion dates as shown on page SP -3 of the contract documents have been extend
due to changes to the project initiated by the Owner. The new completion dates are:
June 18, 1993 - All underground utility work & restoration
July 21, 1993 - Lift Station operation
July 31, 1993 - Final project completion
The Owner reserves the right to extend the completion date for tree plantings if so desired. These changes in the contract date
do not affect the contract amount. In accordance with the Contract, liquidated damages of $300 per calendar day shall be assesse
for each completion date not met.
