SUM: Amendment to the City's Trail Plan to Specify Connections to Highway 5
Overpass
1 As a result of the the city receiving an ISTEA grant for a pedestrian overpass on Highway 5, the
City's Comprehensive Trail Plan must be amended to reflect the specific connections required
1 as a part of this project. A map depicting these connections, both interim and permanent, is
being prepared by Hoisington - Koegler Group for presentation to the City Council. The
connections being proposed are:
1 South Side (Permanent): Connect to off - street sidewalk parallelling Lake Drive East.
1 North Side (Temporary): Connect to West 79th Street allowing an at -grade crossing of
the railroad tracks and access to the central business district.
1 North Side (Permanent): Cross the railroad tracks to West 78th Street allowing access
to the central business district, South Lotus Lake Park, and future Highway 101 North
trail.
1 The Park and Recreation Commission unanimously approved such an amendment at their August
