SUBJ: Call Assessment Hearing on 79th Street Improvement Project No. 91 -8
Attached is the 79th Street Project No. 91 -8 assessment report as prepared by the consultant, Van Doren-
' Hazard - Stallings, Inc. The project was completed earlier this summer with improvements consisting of
westbound right turn lane, concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer, street lighting, landscaping and a
bituminous overlay. Those properties benefitting from this improvement have been determined to be Lot
2 and portions of Lots 1 and 3 of the proposed Gateway First Addition. The method for assessment is
based on a front foot cost. For the street improvements and related appurtenances, this amounts to a cost
of $209.19 per front foot. The storm sewer improvements have been determined to benefit Lot 2 and Lot
' 3 only at a ratio of 80% for Lot 2 and 20% for Lot 3 based on contributing runoff. The corresponding
front foot rates consistent with the 80/20 split are $120.18 per front foot for Lot 2 and $41.90 per front
foot for Lot 3. The proposed project assessments are as follows:
' Lot 1: $16,402.31
Lot 2: $46,367.74

At this time is requested that the City Council receive this assessment report for the 79th Street
' Improvement Project No. 91 -8 and that a public hearing on this assessment report be called for the
September 14, 1992 City Council meeting. Max Daubenberger of Van Doren- Hazard - Stallings, Inc. will
be present at the public hearing to provide a presentation on this assessment report.
