1 SUBJ: Approve Change Order No. 1 for Upper Bluff Creek Trunk Utility
Project No. 91 -17
I Attached to this staff report is supplementary information related to Change Order N
P PP 'Y g o. 1
for the Upper Bluff Creek Trunk Utility Improvement Project No. 91 -17. The good news
1 is that Chanhassen will not be responsible for the costs associated with this change order.
The primary purpose for this change order is to facilitate the installation of additional trunk
I sanitary sewer which will ultimately convey flow from Chaska as specified in the Joint
Powers Agreement between Chanhassen, Chaska and the Metropolitan Waste Control
Commission for interim flow diversion to the Lake Ann Interceptor.
1 The work involves the extension of trunk sanitary sewer from the Upper Bluff Creek sewer
west along Lyman Boulevard and across Audubon Road to its temporary terminus. The City
I of Chaska proposes to extend their trunk line north along the west side of Audubon Road
and connect into this facility in 1993. One of the advantages in constructing the sewer along
Lyman Boulevard this fall is to minimize the impact and crop loss on the adjacent farm
i property.
The amount of the change order is estimated to be $41,300 construction cost plus an
I additional 15% to 18% for indirect costs. The City of Chaska has submitted a letter
agreeing to paying all the costs associated with this change order. It is therefore
recommended that Change Order No. 1 for the Upper Bluff Creek Trunk Utility
I Improvement Project No. 91 -17 in the amount of approximately $41,300 plus indirect costs
be approved with the understanding that said costs shall be paid by the City of Chaska.

RE: Chaska WWTP Study
MWCC Project Number 920600
Interim Forcemain /Lift Station
Dear Mr. Pokorney:
The Commission has reviewed the change order to the Chanhassen lift
station project and it is acceptable. The Commission would like to
have the following questions answered by Chanhassen and BRA Inc.: 11
1. Establish a fixed indirect cost, not a range or a changing
cost, The Commission believes this should be at 15 percent. '
2. The Commission would like to have a copy of the bid form for
the Chanhassen project to confirm that the unit prices for the
change order are consistent with the bid.
The Commission agrees that this change order work should proceed as
soon as practical, and the Commission will reimburse the City of
Chaska for the actual cost of the change order, not to exceed
$50,000.
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,

Change Order to Chanhassen Proj 91 -17
I Our File Nos. 39305 and 92151
I Dear Dave:
Attached is a Change Order and Plan Sheet for your review. The Change Order is for a
I portion of the Chas /Chan sanitary sewer that is to be constructed this fall under City of
Chanhassen Project 91 -17. The purpose of the change order is to have the construction
completed this fall to minimize the impact on the adjacent farm property.
1 Permanent easement for the construction was acquired under Chanhassen's project.
However, approximately 0.2 acres of temporary easement must still be obtained.
1 It is proposed that the entire Change Order amount of approximately $41,300 plus 15 -18
percent in indirect costs will be the responsibility of Chaska.
1 Please review the attached documents and advise me of any comments you may have by
November 20. Also, please send either Charles Folch or me a letter indicating that Chaska
1 agrees with the Change Order and agrees to reimburse Chanhassen for the costs.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or require any additional information.
I Sincerely,
