Mayor of Chanhassen 690 Coulter Drive 1 Chanhassen, MN 55317 Dear Mayor Chmiel II On March 12, 1992 Girl Scouts of the USA celebrates 80 years of preparing girls to meet the challenges in our., every changing I society. In Greater Minneapolis Girl Scout Council we serve over 19,000 girls, ages 5 - 17 in an eight county area. We are proud of our accomplishments and ask your support in recognizing the Girl Scouts in your community. 1 . We would like a proclamation declaring the week of March 8 - 14, 1992 Girl Scout Week in your community. Suggested wording for the I proclamation is enclosed. In addition, we have girls who would like to have their picture taken with you during the signing of the proclamation for the local newspaper. For your convenience, I have enclosed a self- addressed card you can mail back to us indicating I if you would like girls present and when. Please note that evening or late afternoon is the best time of day for troops. I If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 535 -4602. I ,-01:‘ E qual Oaper'u -,qty Affirmative Action Employer = A unnea Way Agency City of Chanhassen Carver and Hennepin Counties, Minnesota DATE: RESOLUTION NO: MOTION BY: SECONDED BY: A RESOLUTION DECLARING MARCH 8 - 14, 1992 AS GIRL SCOUT WEEK WHEREAS, on March 12, 1992 Girl Scouts of the USA celebrates 80 years of helping girls grow into confident and resourceful adults; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouts of the USA, 3 million strong, is the largest nonprofit organization for girls in the world; and WHEREAS, The Greater Minneapolis Girl Scout Council coordinates activities for more than 23,000 girls in an eight county area; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouting reaches out to girls of diverse culture heritage, including Asian, Hispanic, African - American and Native 1 American; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouting provides an environment where girls can enjoy nature, learn to work together and gain leadership skills; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouting helps girls gain self- esteem to make the right choices in their personal lives and in their careers; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouting helps girls to become outstanding citizens of our community: NOW, THEREFORE, I, Donald J. Chmiel the mayor of the City of Chanhassen, do hereby proclaim the week of March 8 -14, 1991 to be Girl Scout Week. Passed and adopted by the Chanhassen City Council this 1 day of , 1991.
