Approval requires a simple majority vote of the City Council BACKGROUND The Chanhassen Athletic Association would like to hire a contractor to improve three existing batting cages at Lake Ann Park. The association completed a similar project in 2011 at Lake Susan Park. All donations exceeding $500 must be approved by the City Council. The association has partnered with the city on many Public Works occasions to work towards improving local athletic facilities. Fax: 952.227.1310 Chanhassen is a Community for Life - Providing for Today and Planning for Tomorrow The Chanhassen Athletic Association would like to hire a contractor to remove Senior Center the 2.25 -inch posts surrounding the cage as well as the fabric on three sides, Phone: 952.227.1125 Fax: 952.227.1110 leaving the outfield fence and posts. The contractor would install twelve 3 -inch O.D. posts cemented 4 feet in the ground. The cages would be suspended from Web Site the posts similar to those at Lake Susan Park. The hardware for suspension www.ci.chanhassen.mn.us would be supplied by the Association. The city also will be responsible for delivery of 5 tons of infield mix to the site to grade and improve drainage. The Dugout Club would install permanent batters boxes to ensure erosion does not occur in these areas. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council accept this generous contribution of batting cage improvements from the Chanhassen Athletic Association for installation at Lake Ann Park. The Chanhassen Athletic Association would like to hire a contractor to improve the existing 3 batting cages at Lake Ann Park. The contractor will remove the 2.25" posts surrounding the cage as well as the fabric on 3 sides leaving the outfield fence and posts. The contractor would install 12 -3" o.d. posts cemented 4' in the ground. The cages would be suspended from the posts similar to those at Lake Susan Park. The hardware for suspension would be supplied by the Association. The Association would hang the batting cages each Spring after delivery to the Park by the City and the City would be responsible for taking down the cage and storage each Fall. The City would be responsible for delivery of 5 tons of infield mix to the sight to grade and improve drainage at the sight.
