RE:
Acceptance of two portable radios through Carver County Metro
Radio Board grant award
BACKGROUND
On September 30, 2003 the Metropolitan Radio Board advised Carver County
they have been awarded a grant to purchase public safety radios which operate on
the 800 MHz Metropolitan Radio System. The total value of the award was for
$100,800.00 worth of radio equipment. The award was based on a demonstrated
need as well as the population served.
The City of Chanhassen will be receiving two portable radios - one will go to the
Fire Department, and the other will go to our Community Service Officers. With
the addition of another CSO, a second radio will help their communications while
on duty.
It is anticipated that the radios will be delivered by the end of the year. The value
of the two portable radios and battery chargers that the City will receive is
approximately $5,820.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve acceptance of two portable
radios and chargers through the Carver County Metro Radio Board grant. This
action requires a simple majority of the City Council.
