CC SUM 2013 04 08 CHANHASSEN CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING SUMMARY MINUTES APRIL 8, 2013 Mayor Furlong called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. The meeting was opened with the Pledge to the Flag which was led by Anson Allred from Boy Scout Troop 589. COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Furlong, Councilman McDonald, Councilwoman Tjornhom, Councilwoman Ernst, and Councilman Laufenburger STAFF PRESENT: Todd Gerhardt, Laurie Hokkanen, Paul Oehme, Kate Aanenson, Todd Hoffman, and Roger Knutson PUBLIC PRESENT: Anson Allred Boy Scout Troop 589 PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS: None. CONSENT AGENDA:Councilman McDonald moved, Councilwoman Ernst seconded to approve the following Consent Agenda items pursuant to the City Manager’s recommendations: a. Approval of Minutes: -City Council Work Session Minutes dated March 25, 2013 -City Council Verbatim and Summary Minutes dated March 25, 2013 Resolution #2013-23: b. 2013 Street Improvement Project 13-01: Call Assessment Hearing. d. Approve Amendment to Chapter 5 of City Code re: Animal Licensing. e. Approve Amendment to Section 2-46.11c of City Code re: Senor Commission Membership. nd f. Approval of Off-Sale Intoxicating Liquor License, SuperAmerica, 2960 82 Street. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 5 to 0. VISITOR PRESENTATIONS. None. CONSENT AGENDA 1(C). APPROVE AUTHORIZATION FOR JURISDICTIONAL REVIEW, COMPREHENSIVE PLAN/LAND USE AMENDMENT, CHANHASSEN APARTMENTS, GALPIN BOULEVARD. Because this item will have impact on a future item before the City Council, Councilman Laufenburger asked staff to clarify the action of this motion. Councilman Laufenburger moved, Councilman McDonald seconded that the Chanhassen City Council authorizes staff to submit the amendment to the 2030 Comprehensive Plan regarding a land use map amendment from Residential-Low Density and Office to Residential-Low and High Density and Office and Residential-High Density for jurisdictional review. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 5 to 0. City Council Summary – April 8, 2013 APPOINTMENTS TO THE PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION AND SENIOR COMMISSION. Mayor Furlong reviewed the interview process before making the following motion. Mayor Furlong moved, Councilwoman Tjornhom seconded to make the following appointments: Jackie Engel, Tom Wilson and Jacqueline Prescott for 3 year terms expiring March, 2016 for the Senior Commission; Maryam Yusuf to a 2 year term expiring March, 2015 and Stephen Withrow to a one year term expiring March, 2014 for the Planning Commission; and Cole Kelly and Rick Echternacht to 3 year terms expiring March, 2016 and Luke Thunberg to a one year term expiring March, 2014 for the Park and Recreation Commission. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 5 to 0. COUNCIL PRESENTATIONS: Councilman Laufenburger reminded people to attend the Third th Annual Chanhassen Red Birds fundraiser Saturday, April 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Chanhassen American Legion. Mayor Furlong commented on the meeting he and City Manager Gerhardt had with the Southwest Metro Chamber Board of Directors. ADMINISTRATIVE PRESENTATIONS. Todd Gerhardt provided an update on Chanhassen fire fighter Mike Ryan’s illness during a recent call for service. CORRESPONDENCE DISCUSSION. None. th Mayor Furlong wished his daughter Kathryn a happy 15 birthday. Councilwoman Ernst moved, Councilwoman Tjornhom seconded to adjourn the meeting.
