SUBJ: Acceptance of Contribution from Chanhassen American Legion
The Chanhassen American Legion Post #580 has generously donated
' $2,884.95 for the purchase of a radar unit, digital readout display
and accessories. This is the same equipment displayed to the City
Council several months ago, which the Carver County Sheriff's
' Department and I believe would be an extraordinary piece of equipment
to support our efforts to provide quality traffic control here.
RECOMMENDATION
It is the recommendation of staff that the City Council accept this
' $2,884.95 donation and to direct the Public Safety Director to mail
a letter of thanks to the Chanhassen American Legion Post #580.

Chanhassen American Legion Post 580

Chanhassen, MN 55317 -
Dear Commander Chadderdon: 1
I was extremely pleased to hear that the American Legion is
proposing to donate the money necessary to purchase a radar unit
including digital readout display and accessories. The total cost
has been estimated at $2,884.95 - such, again, representing a
significant contribution to our community. We are hopeful that
this equipment will help reduce speeds within our community and
thereby increase safety for pedestrians and other 'motorists.
Hopefully, this piece of equipment will be a positive approach in
gaining voluntary compliance rather than using measures, such as
ticketing, to force compliance.
Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and generosity.
