1 PROCLAMATION ESTABLISHING MAY 19 THROUGH MAY 25, 1991 AS
NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
1 WHEREAS, public works services provided in our community are
an intergral part of our citizens ' everyday lives; and
WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed
11 citizenry is vital to the efficient operation of public works
systems and programs such as water , sewers, street and highways,
public buildings , solid waste collection, and snow removal; and
- 111 WHEREAS, the health, safety, and comfort of this community
greatly depends on these facilities and services; and
1 WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities,
as well as their planning, design and construction, is vitally
dependent upon the efforts and skill of public works officials; and
IWHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated
personnel who staff public works departments is materially
1 influenced by the people 's attitude and understanding of the
importance of the work they perform.
1 NOW, THEREFORE, I, Donald J. Chmiel, by virtue of the
authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Chanhassen, do
hereby proclaim the week of May 19 through May 25, 1991 as
II "NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK"
in the City of Chanhassen, and I call upon all citizens and civic
.1 organizations to acquaint themselves with the problems involved
in providing our public works and to recognize the contributions
which public works officials make every day to our health,
1 safety, and comfort.
FURTHERMORE, all citizens and interested parties are invited -
to attend a public works open house being held May 23, 1991 from
I 2:00 p.m. to 7: 00 p.m. at the City's public works facility
located at 1591 Park Road.
