SUBJ: Fire Chief Take Home Vehicle
Included in the 1990 Budget is a Fire Chief vehicle. The vehicle
would be assigned to whomever is the current fire chief to act as
a first responder vehicle to oversee the fire or rescue scene (call
for back-up/cancel vehicles) . The vehicle would be used solely
within the City, but would be a take home vehicle.
We would request authorization to proceed with preparing
specifications for this vehicle which could be available for
Council review within thirty days.

ARTICLE IX. DUTIES OF THE CHIEF
Section A. - 1. The Chief of the Chanhassen Fire Department shall II
have supervision of the Fire Department and Rescue

chain of command shall apply, i.e. 1st Assistant
Chief, 2nd Assistant Chief, the first Captain on
scene, the first Lieutenant on scene.
2. The Chief shall be the Chairman of the Board of Fill
Officers.
3. The Fire Chief shall meet with the City Manager
on a quarterly basis.
4. The Fire Chief shall attend and be a member of
the Public Safety Commission. The First
Assistant Chief shall attend in the Chief's
absence.
ARTICLE X. DUTIES OF THE FIRST ASSISTANT CHIEF I
Section A. - The First Assistant Chief shall see that all orders
of the Chief are carried out.
Section B. - In the absence of the Chief, the First Assistant Chief .
will assume full command. '
ARTICLE XI. DUTIES OF THE SECOND ASSISTANT CHIEF
Section A. - The Second Assistant Chief shall see that all orders
of the Chief and First Assistant Chief are carried out
Section B. - In the absence of the Chief and the First Assistant
Chief, the Second Assistant Chief will assume full
command.
ARTICLE XII. DUTIES OF THE SECRETARY-TREASURER
Section A. -Poltiim shall keep account of the minutes of each meetill
and prepare an agenda for the same.
Section B. -be/She mall keep accurate records of all monies of the
Fire Department and have sole charge of the disbursing '
and_ bank4ng of said monies.
Section C. - ; r absence he/she shall make every effort to
obtain a •substitute for recording of minutes of any
meeting he/she will be unable to attend. I
ARTICLE XIII. MEMBERSHIP
Section A. - Any applicant seeking membership in the Fire Department'
1. must be a resident of the City of Chanhassen, or

3. live within close proximity to a fire station and
subject to approval of the Board of Fire Officers.
iectlfRl'S. - Age requirements for new applicants for the Chanhassen
Fire Department shall be at least eighteen (18) years
of age. A probationary period of one (1) year shall b
served by all applicants.
