As will be recalled, this is a glacial drift well which we hope, from review of the hydrogeology, to produce approximately 500 gallons per I minute. Our goal is to place this well in service in a relatively short period of time and at half the expense of the deeper Prairie du Chien (bedrock) well. 11 I am pleased to report that the test well and pumping have turned out to be quite productive and indications at this point in time indicate that the City may be able to produce close to 700 gallons per minute from this site. The I water quality results for this well also indicate a good quality content with iron and manganese undetected which is highly unusual for a drift aquifer. Based on these favorable results, the attached plans and specifications have II been prepared for construction of the production well and discharge piping modification at Wellhouse No. 2. It is hoped that construction of the production well can continue to proceed on schedule such that this additional 1 capacity can be brought on-line in July of this year. The engineer's estimate for construction of the production well and piping is $90,700. It is therefore recommended that the attached plans and specifications prepared 1 by Bruce A. Liesch Associates, Inc. be approved for Production Well No. 5 and that authorization be given for advertising for bids.
