Parking Lot, Improvement Project No. 87-17

The attached Contract Amendment No. 1 is being processed to
I address the additions and revisions to the project scope which
were experienced this past construction season for five elements
of the construction . The attached Contract Amendment in detail
summarizes the revisions and additions to the project scope. The
II Contract Amendment is for an increase of $9 ,287. 55 to the project
scope. The amended contract amount therefore is $551,749. 85.
II I find this Contract Amendment in order and consistent with the
scope of services provided by Shafer Contracting. It is
therefore recommended that the City Council approve Contract
I Amendment No. 1 for the North Side Parking Lot project in an
amount of $9 ,287. 55 and establish an amended contract ceiling
price of $551 ,749 . 85.

The additions, revisions and corrections contained herein shall be made to the
IContract Documents for the project, and shall become a part of the Scope of Work.
Description of Changes:
IIA. The contractor pumped out and removed two septic tanks while excavating for
the parking lot construction.
IC Tank #1 was 6 ft. diameter x 6 ft. high and served the old Bakery
Building.
IC Tank #2 was 4 ft. diameter x 4 ft. high and served the old Labolo
Building.

IIB. In order to make the water main connection behind the Heritage Square
Shopping Center, the water service to the building had to be shut down. The
I shut down was scheduled with the contractor for 5 a.m. in order to avoid
delayed service during business hours.
I Upon start of the work at 5:00 a.m. the contractor was directed by a repre-
sentative of the City to cease his operation until 7:00 a.m. The contrac-
tor incurred extra costs due to the 2 hour shut down.

C. The existing sanitary sewer service to serve the Chanhassen Lawn & Sports I
Building runs through the area of the new parking lot. The depth of this
service conflicted in several locations with the construction of the parking II lot. The service had to be lowered for about 195 feet in order to avoid
. freezing conditions. The contractor and the Engineer agreed in advance of
the work to the unit costs for this item.

D. A new storm drain connection to serve the Heritage Park apartment building II
was constructed. The project contractor furnished and installed a 6" PVC
storm lead to the building for future connection by the apartment building II contractor. (This was done based upon an agreement by City Staff and the
Apartment Developer in order to reduce runoff to the existing Chanview storm
sewer system.)

E. The contractor removed and disposed of two additional drain oil storage
tanks at the Anderson Automotive Site which had not been identified on the
