Marcus Ellson Project: Storm Drain Decal Project Marcus conducted this project as a part of his Eagle Scout application. His project goal was to improve water quality by educating citizens on how run-off from streets and yards has a direct effect on lakes and wetlands. He worked with city staff to plan and coordinate the project and with another scout troop to carry out the work. Marcus is happy and proud that he completed the project and hopes that it will make a difference in the water quality in Lake Minnewashta. Chanhassen Elementary School Receiving: Justin Rowlandson Project: Recycling Project Realizing that the school had a great opportunity to increase its recycling rates, Chanhassen Elementary implemented a number of improvements to its current recycling program. First they gave each classroom its own set of recycling bins, then they created recycling stations throughout the school. Students were also involved in the project and the Special Education class was given the responsibility of collecting all the school cardboard several times a week for recycling. The new program has increased recycling participation and awareness for the students and staff of Chanhassen Elementary.
