MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor and City Council
1 FROM: Don Ashworth, City Manager
1 DATE: February 26 , 1990
SUBJ: Board of Equalization and Review, Set Date for Finalizing
Board Action
1
As the Council will recall, the Board of Equalization process
1 involves two steps. The first meeting (currently set for May 15,
1990) is to officially hear each of the reassessment requests.
Responses to requests for re-evaluation are typically not given
1 that evening with the assessor being instructed to research each
and to make a recommendation. His response and the City
Council 's action on those represents the second part of that pro-
cess. As the City Council has acted to set May 15th as the first
hearing date and, recognizing that no major valuation/tax
increases have occurred, I am not anticipating an overwhelming
number of citizens attending either of the two meetings.
1 Accordingly, this office believes that finalizing the Board's
action could occur on the same evening as our regular City
Council meeting of May 28th. This should also allow adequate
time for the assessors to finish his research/recommendations.
