WORK SESSION

Mayor Furlong called the work session to order at 5:00 p.m.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Furlong, Councilman Ayotte, Councilman
Labatt, Councilman Lundquist, and Councilman Peterson
STAFF PRESENT: Todd Gerhardt, City Manager; Justin Miller, Assistant to the City
Manager; and Paul Oehme, City Engineer/Public Works Director.
HIGHWAY 101 GAP PROJECT: Roger Gustafson, Carver County Engineer; Lisa
Freese, MnDOT; and Gayle Degler and Tom Workman, Carver County Commissioners
were present for this discussion. Council received an update from MnDOT about the
status of the Highway 101 Gap project. Council and Carver County representatives
discussed funding options and asked to continue to be informed of any new
developments.
COMMISSION INTERVIEWS: The Council interviewed the following candidates for
commissions:
Senior Commission: Curt Robinson, Marlyn Mauritz, Marilyn Luthy and Kay Faust.
Park & Recreation Commission: Thomas Kelly, George Prieditis, Jack Spizale, Steve
Scharfenberg, Kevin Dillon, and Anne Murphy.
Environmental Commission: David Wanek, Jo Mueller, and Dottie Shay.
Planning Commission: Uli Sacchet
UPDATE FROM SOUTHWEST METRO TRANSIT COMMISSION: Len Simich
and Bob Worthington from Southwest Metro Transit; and David Happe, resident of the
Springfield neighborhood were present for this discussion. The Council received an
update on bus service and the proposed TH 101/212 park and ride facility from Len
Simich.
