ISUBJ: Approve Contract Amendment No. 2 for Downtown : , _. , ..1
Redevelopment , Phase II -. -
Improvement Project No. 86-11B
The attached Contract Amendment No. 2 has been prepared to
I include new bid items and contract quantities as required by the
following modifications to the contract scope:
TH 5 Temporary Intersection Improvements
IA.
At the request of Rosemount, Inc. , the TH 5/Market Boulevard
intersection was upgraded from a right-in/right-out both
I north and south of TH 5 to a full intersection. The
upgrading to a full intersection required significant
additional work not included in the origianl contract
I documents . The improvements to the north side of TH 5 were
carried out by the contractor. Item A of Contract Amendment
No. 2 summarizes the additional work required.
IB. Concrete Sidewalk - Market Boulevard
In conjunction with the proposed site development of the
I Crossroads National Bank, the Market Boulevard trail system
and the TH 5 trail system, it was decided that a six-foot
concrete walk should be added to the east side of Market
I Boulevard from Bowling Alley Road to West 79th Street. This
walk was not included in the original plans and
specifications . Item B of Contract Amendment No. 2 provides
payment to the contractor for this work.
IAs you are aware, Rosemount Engineering has been billed for the
engineering and construction activities associated with the
I modified intersection of Market Boulevard at TH 5 . Concerning
the sidewalk addition to Market Boulevard, this was found
necessary in order to provide continuity with the trail section

and crossing proposed for TH 5 at Market Boulevard. The City
currently has sidewalk and trail either built or planned ( in the
' case of the Ward property) across the entire frontage of Lake
Drive from the easterly border at Dell Road to Powers Boulevard.
The Market Boulevard segment therefore provides the necessary
' completion of this network.
The net impact to the project costs is an add of $57 , 810 . 22 for
an amended contract ceiling amount of $759 ,990 . 72. It is
' therefore recommended that the attached Contract Amendment No. 2
for the Downtown Redevelopment, Phase II Project No. 86-11B be
approved for execution.
