SUMMARY LIGHTING ORDINANCE NO.
This ordinance amendment seeks to minimize glare caused by improperly styled or
located light fixtures. This includes fixtures located on streets as well as those in parking and
recreational facilities.
The amendment specifies the maximum height of lights on poles, the type of fixture
permitted, and that photometrics incorporate existing features into the lighting plan. The
ordinance also states that if more than 50 percent of the existing fixtures are replaced on a given
site, they must comply with the ordinance. The ordinance also defines the terms glare,
photometrics and shielded light fixture.
Passed and adopted by the City Council this 22nd day of February, 1999.
