FROM: Todd Hoffman, Park and Recreation Director
DATE: January 19, 1999
SUB J:
Approve Temporary and Permanent Easement Payment,
1998 Trail Project
Approximately 88 separate easements are required to complete the six trail
segments in the 1998 Trail Project. The easements fall into one of three
categories: 1) Temporary, 2) Permanent, or 3) Temporary and Permanent.
Generally, these easements are narrow strips of property along an existing right-
of-way.
This submittal represents one of the required easements with a total payment of
$266. This parcel was appraised by the firm ofLyle H. Nagel and Company. The
agreed upon cost to have each appraisal completed is $200.
Four to six easements with a total value of less than $5,000 remain to be acquired.
The two easements which may or may not need to be acquired lie just inside the
Eden Prairie border on Pioneer Trail. Eden Prairie is currently completing a
utility project at this site. The ownership of the property at this location is
currently being investigated.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize payment of the attached grant
of temporary and permanent easements for the 1998 Trail Project as detailed on
the attached invoice.
