SUMMARY MINUTES
JULY 26, 2004
Mayor Furlong called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Furlong, Councilman Labatt and
Councilman Peterson
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: Councilman Ayotte and Councilman Lundquist
STAFF PRESENT: Todd Gerhardt, Roger Knutson, Justin Miller, Todd Hoffman,
Bruce DeJong, and Paul Oehme
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS: None.
CONSENT AGENDA: Councilman Labatt moved, Councilman Peterson seconded
to approve the following consent agenda items pursuant to the City Manager's
recommendations:
Approval of Minutes:
-City Council Work Session Minutes dated July 12, 2004
-City Council Summary and Verbatim Minutes dated July 12, 2004
Receive Commission Minutes:
-Planning Commission Summary and Verbatim Minutes dated July 6, 2004
b. Approve Amendment to Development Contract for Countryside, Project 04-10.
Amendment to July 12th Consent Agenda Item: LaserFiche Agenda Manager
Software.
All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 3 to 0.
VISITOR PRESENTATIONS: None.
AWARD OF BIDS, HIGHWAY 41 TRAIL CONNECTION PROJECT.
Todd Hoffman passed out the bid results for this project recommending the low bidder of
New Look Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $147,556.00. Phil Gravel with Bonestroo,
Rosene, Anderlik & Associates was available to answer questions. Councilman Labatt
asked if and where this contractor has worked in the city. Mayor Furlong asked for
clarification on the funding source and timing of the project.
City Council Meeting - July 26, 2004
Resolution #2004-49: Councilman Peterson moved, Councilman Labatt seconded to
award the bid for the 2004 Highway 41 Trail Connection Project to New Look
Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $147,556.00. All voted in favor and the motion
carried unanimously with a vote of 3 to 0.
COUNCIL PRESENTATIONS:
Mayor Furlong reminded everybody of the City Center Park dedication on Friday, July
BOth at 7:00.
ADMINISTRATIVE PRESENTATIONS:
Todd Gerhardt informed the council that Todd Hoffman and his staff have been working
with Peter Olin at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum to establish August 26th as
Chanhassen Day at the Arboretum and provided an update on the river crossing meeting
he attended today.
CORRESPONDENCE DISCUSSION.
Councilman Labatt asked for an update on the Chanhassen Chiropractic case. Roger
Knutson stated the matter has been forwarded to the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
Councilman Peterson moved, Councilman Labatt seconded to adjourn the meeting.
All voted in favor and the motion carried. The City Council meeting was adjourned
at 7:15 p.m.
