The suspect(s) targeted unlocked vehicles and open/unlocked garages. Articles stolen included cell phones, money, purses, cassettes, a face plate from an in-dash stereo, and misc. items. Recent Theft Locations: Bighorn Dr., Frontier Tr., Derby Dr., Chanhasscn Hills Dr. S., Maple Shores Dr., and Sunnyvale Dr. The attached map illustrates neighborhood theft activity occurring 7/19/04 - 8/11/04. *The triangles represent thefts that occurred between 8/09/04 and 8/11/04. *The three (3) squares represent recent garage burglaries. *The circles represent thefts that occurred in late July. Recommendations: *Lock vehicles and remove all items (including vehicles parked in the garage). *Keep garage doors closed and locked when not in use. *Immediately report suspicious activity by dialing 9-1-1. Suspicious activity would include: Juveniles out alter curfew - see attachment Someone looking in or talnpering with a vehicle Any unusual activity, especially after dark Special Note: On 7/30/04, a Chanhassen resident dialed 9-1-1 regarding suspicious activity, which resulted in the arrest of a young adult male. This activity is occun'ing alter dark. Several unlocked vehicles were entered and items stolen included: money, a cell phone, and miscellaneous items of little value. One (1) residential burglary was also reported where the suspect(s) entered through a main floor window that was either left open and/or unlocked. Crime Locations: (See Attached Map) West Village Road, Nicolas Way, Pelican Court, Frontier Trail, West Lake Drive, Lake Susan Hills Drive, and Dakota Lane. Special Note: There has also been an incident or two of possible mailbox tampering. Recommendations: *Lock vehicles and remove all items. *Close/lock lower level windows when your home is unoccupied or before going to bed. *Report suspicious activity by immediately calling 9-1-1. *Report curfew violations, which in general would be juveniles out after midnight. *Keep garage doors closed and locked when not in use. *Never place outgoing mail in your mailbox. Use an official mail receptacle. *Promptly retrieve your mail daily.
