REVIEW DRAFT PLAN OF CHANHASSEN'S PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES:
Jim Prosser from Ehlers and Associates introduced Dick Setter and Don Davis who will
be helping prepare the plan to analyze the City of Chanhassen's public safety needs.
They proposed a six step plan which includes identifying issues and concerns, reviewing
the 2005 police contract, providing public feedback and education, drafting a report and
recommendations, submittal of the report to the council, and implementing the report.
After discussing what else is needed in the report, Prosser stated that he will have a
revised plan back to the council within two to three weeks.
(Note: The Council started discussion of the 2005 AUAR Feasibility Study prior to the
regular Council meeting at 7:00 p.m., and then continued the work session until after
completion of the regular meeting.)
2005 AUAR FEASIBILITY STUDY: Paul Oehme and John Horn presented the
preliminary assessment study for the 2005 MUSA area. This included assessments for all
public utilities and roadways in the area. Staff will be recommending that the council call
for the public hearing on the August 23rd meeting, with the actual public hearing to occur
sometime in September.
WATER TREATMENT UPDATE: Paul Oehme and Kelley Janes presented updated
information regarding the proposed locations of the water treatment facility. It was
agreed upon by the council that the west end of the Red-E-Mix site was the best site for
the project. Oehme stated that he would be preparing an RFP for design services and that
the council would be asked to approve the RFP before the end of the year.
