While researching various models and costs, staff came across a grant opportunity from CenterPoint Energy. A grant application was submitted for the maximum $2,500, with a required matching contribution coming from the City. Staff was notified this fall that the City was selected as one of the recipients of this year's grants. Two AED's have been ordered, with one being paid for by the grant and the other coming from matching City funds. One device will go in the CSO vehicle, while the other will be placed in the newly remodeled senior center. While they will hopefully never need to be used, they will be in strategically placed locations so that their use will be most fully utilized. The City of Chanhassen thanks CenterPoint Energy for allowing us to participate in this grant program. Connie Hargest will be present at Monday's meeting to make a presentation on behalf of CenterPoint Energy. RECOMMENDA TION Staff recommends that the City Council accept a grant award in the amount of $2,500.00 from CenterPoint Energy for the purchase of an automatic external defibrillator (AED) unit to be placed in the Chanhassen Community Service Officer's vehicle.
