REGULAR MEETING
SUMMARY MINUTES
DECEMBER 14, 2004
Acting Chair Kelly called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m..
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Tom Kelly, Jack Spizale, Paula Atkins, Kevin Dillon, and Ann
Murphy.
MEMBERS ABSENT:
Glenn Stolar and Steve Scharfenberg
STAFF PRESENT:
Jerry Ruegemer, Recreation Superintendent; Corey Hoen,
Recreation Supervisor; Susan Bill, Senior Center Coordinator; Dale Gregory, Park
Superintendent; and Susan Marek, Rec Center Director
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Acting Chair Kelly asked that the Senior Center report be
moved before new business.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS:
None.
VISITOR PRESENTATIONS:
None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Spizale moved, Murphy seconded to approve the
summary and verbatim minutes of the Park and Recreation Commission meeting dated
November 23, 2004 as presented.
SENIOR CENTER UPDATE.
Susan Bill presented the senior center update.
YOBERRY FARM, REZONING OF PROPERTY FROM RURAL RESIDENTIAL
DISTRICT TO RESIDENTIAL SINGLE FAMILY DISTRICT.
Jerry Ruegemer presented the staff report on this item. Commissioners asked for
clarification on the number of homes in this development and pricing. Commissioner
Kelly asked about sidewalk connections to Sugarbush Park and Minnetonka Middle
School West. Commissioner Spizale asked about future development on the large parcel
to the west.
Dillon moved, Spizale seconded that the Park and Recreation Commission
recommend to accept park and trail dedication fees in lieu of parkland and trail
construction. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of
5 to 0.

CHANHASSEN DOG PARK DISCUSSION.
Ann Murphy provided an update on the discussions taking place with Carver County
Parks staff, which is also considering Carver Park as a possible site. Todd Hoffman had
suggested a 10 acre site in Lake Ann Park, by the entrance to the park. Ms. Murphy has
been in discussions with an organization called ROMP and will invite them to attend the
next joint meeting with City Council when this issue is discussed. Commissioner Spizale
discussed connecting open space and trails in Lake Ann Park. Commissioner Kelly asked
if any other cities have volunteered money requested by Carver County and further
information on the ROMP organization. Commissioner Atkins suggested looking at
another possible area in Lake Ann Park west of the beach.
RECREATION PROGRAM REPORTS:
2004 TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY .
Jerry Ruegemer presented the evaluation on this year’s event held Saturday, December

WINTER PROGRAM UPDATE.
Corey Hoen reviewed the programs being offer this winter.
RECREATION CENTER REPORT.
Susan Marek presented the report on the Rec Center.
PARK AND TRAIL MAINTENANCE REPORT.
Dale Gregory presented the report on the park and trail maintenance.
ADMINISTRATIVE:
2005 PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION AND CITY COUNCIL
MEETING SCHEDULES AND CHANHASSEN SNOWMOBILE TRAILS.
Jerry Ruegemer reviewed these items with the commission.

Dillon moved, Murphy seconded to adjourn the meeting. All voted in favor and the
motion carried. The Park and Recreation Commission meeting was adjourned.
