Public Safety Open House Update
As part of the public safety review process that the City of Chanhassen has
undertaken, we will be holding an open house on Thursday, February 17th from
5:00 - 7:00 at the Chanhassen Recreation Center. Staff has been working with
our consultant team (Ehlers and Associates, Dick Setter and Don Davis) to come
up with a format that we believe will be informati ve for both residents and staff.
The format will be a true "open house" with no formal presentations being made.
There will be approximately 10-13 stations where information about the different
aspects of our public safety services will be presented. The stations will include:
· Welcome station (sign in and explanation of format)
· Study process/timeline
· Keys to a safe community
· Chanhassen public safety fast facts (number of officers, contract format,
services provided by Carver County Sheriff's Office)
· Organizational Chart
· Comparisons to other communities (population, officers, number of
crimes)
· Crime rates of other communities
· Results from latest citizen survey (2001)
· Traffic enforcement and problem areas
· Crime prevention programs
· School safety
· Chanhassen Fire Department fast facts
· Emergency preparedness/management
· Feedback opportunities/comment cards
People may come and go as they wish during the two hour period. Results of the
open house will be incorporated into the final report which will be provided to the
City Council later in 2005.
