1979 11 07 I I I SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING NOVEMBER 7, 1979 Acting Mayor Neveaux called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with the following members present: Councilmen Pearson and Swenson. Mayor Hobbs and Councilman Geving were absent. CANVASS NOVEMBER 6, 1979, SPECIAL ELECTION: RESOLUTION #79-68: Councilman Pearson moved the adoption of the following resolution: WHEREAS, a special election was held on November 6, 1979, in and for the City of Chanhassen; and WHEREAS the City Council has received and examined the official returns of said special election from the duly appointed election judges; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the CityCouncH of the City of Chanhassen, Minnesota, that it is hereby found and determined that at the special election held in the City on November 6, 1979, to vote on the following question: SHALL THE CITY OF CHANHASSEN BORROW MONEY AND ISSUE AND SELL ITS NEGOTIABLE COUPON GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN THE AMOUNT OF NOT TO EXCEED $1,484,500.00 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVlDTNGMONEY FOR THE ACQUISITION AND BETTERMENT OF VARIOUS MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS INCLUDING A CITY HALL BUILDING, A PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING AND A SATELLITE FIRE STATION? there were 651 votes in favor of the proposition, 518 votes against the proposition, and four ballots were illegible, spoiled or otherwise defective, and the proposition is hereby declared carried by more than the required majority vote. Resolution seconded by Councilwoman Swenson. The following voted in favor: Acting Mayor Neveaux, Councilmen Pearson and Swenson. No negative votes. Motion carried. Councilwoman Swenson moved to request the Mayor to write a 1 etter to the editor commending those people and o-rganÜa.tlons within the City that were involved in the successful passage of this issue. Motion seconded by Councilman Pearson. The following voted in favor: Acting Mayor Neveaux, Councilmen Pearson and Swenson. No negative votes. Motion carried. Councilman Pearson moved to adjourn.
